Decoupage technique was first applied in the 12th century, when Chinese peasants made colorful paper ornaments to decorate their windows, create paper lanterns and decorative boxes.
In the 17th century, it appears in the West and mainly in Venice, since it was the center of trade with the East.
Since then and until today, it remains very popular and is a technique with which a surface can be decorated using paper materials! It can be applied to any surface made of paper, cloth, wood, metal, clay, stone, wax, glass, cement, plastic and mat.

Instructions for using a paper napkin with the Decoupage technique:

To begin with, you select the entire napkin or cut out the pattern you want carefully so you don't include pieces of the pattern you don't want.
You choose the spot where you will place the paper towel, and with a brush with synthetic bristles, cover the surface with a thin layer of glue. Place the paper towel softly and dab with your fingers to fix it in the desired position.
Next, spread a layer of glue over your napkin with your paintbrush, starting from the center of the pattern and working towards the edges.
When the glue dries well, we recommend waterproofing the surface with a clear protective varnish. It is good to apply 2 to 3 layers of varnish, making sure that the previous layer has dried well, before repeating!

Tips: Never use scissors or a cutter to cut the napkin, just use your fingers!
We recommend using scented glue!
